David C. Tufts

David practices labor and employment law with an emphasis on class action lawsuits under the WARN Act and labor relations under the NLRA. He also represents Taft-Hartley pension and welfare plans under the ERISA and practices general civil litigation.


David graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2004. He earned his Juris Doctor from the Howard University School of Law as a Merit Fellows Scholar in 2008. At Howard, he won numerous awards for his superior academic performance in alternative dispute resolution, equal employment law, labor law, and legal writing. He interned for U.S. Magistrate Judge John E. Ott of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama in 2007. He interned for Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge Joseph L. Boohaker in 2008. During his final year in law school, he clerked for Mooney, Green, Baker & Saindon, P.C., a law firm with a practice similar to that of The Gardner Firm.


David is admitted to practice law in all the state courts and federal district courts in Alabama. He is a member of the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee, the American Bar Association, the Alabama Bar Association, the Alabama Association for Justice, and the Mobile Bar Association.


David and his wife Lucy live in Mobile and enjoy spending their free time visiting the many unique Gulf Coast communities throughout Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
