Thomas (Tom) Matthew Loper|
Thomas Matthew Loper was born in Mobile, Alabama, and recently returned home to join The Gardner Firm after practicing law in Washington, DC for several years. Tom attended the University of Alabama School of Law, earning his Juris Doctor in 2005, and the University of Alabama, earning his Bachelor of Science in 2002. Tom also completed a Master of Business in Administration at The George Washington University School of Business in 2010.
Prior to joining The Gardner Firm, Tom worked in a number of transactional and litigation practice areas ranging from family and criminal law to corporate litigation and compliance. At The Gardner Firm, Tom continues to have a diverse practice area. He currently represents local unions with their general legal matters and numerous health and pension plans with ERISA and other regulatory compliance. Tom regularly fights for the interests of laid off employees in the ligations of WARN Act cases and individuals injured as the result of the negligence or arrogance of others. As the son of a public school educator, Tom also works to protect the rights of teachers in our local schools.
Tom is equally active in the community. He provides free legal representation through the Mobile Volunteer Lawyers Program and helps to support the United Way of Southwest Alabama through its Young Leaders Society. He is also active in working with environmental and education groups in south Mobile County, especially in his beloved Fowl River community.
Tom is admitted to practice law in the State of Alabama and the District of Columbia. He is fluent in Spanish, proficient in Portuguese, and has worked in both languages in the United States and several other countries.
When not in the office or serving in the community, Tom can be found working in his yard with his black Lab, Roxie, traveling in developing countries, or fishing or diving out on the Gulf with his family.
